Shoplifting and Theft Awareness Class

Court Approved Class Online

If you have been caught shoplifting or otherwise stealing, you may be required to complete a two-hour theft and shoplifting class. Many Courts require shoplifting offenders complete this one-time program as one of their plea or probation requirements.

Our Shoplifting and Theft Awareness Class (SATA) takes a deep dive into why people shoplift and steal. We look at the underlying issues that may cause one to shoplift or become a compulsive thief. We also offer time-tested strategies that our clients can use immediately after leaving class.

The curriculum for this class was built by licensed sociologists and is presented as purely educational material. It presents educational tools that people can then apply to themselves. It is not meant to deal with individual personal mental health needs.

Our Online class requires you to watch three video segments and complete a short test after each one. All three videos can be viewed at one sitting (and take all three tests) or as your schedule allows. It can take up to 24 hours to correct each test. Our goal is for you to get through this quickly, but more importantly, learn a few things about theft. We provide a study guide for each video segment so you will know what to look for and remember. The Online Instructor may have a question or ask you to repeat the video, if you did not do well on a test.

Sign up and start moving ahead to a more positive life. What you do next is more important than what you have done in the past.

Shoplifting or theft can become an addiction if it goes unchecked. In many cases, shoplifters and thieves get away with stealing many times before they are eventually caught. If they keep stealing without negative consequences, it can easily become an addiction. This is why it is necessary to intervene before it becomes a bigger issue. Many courts around the U.S. are beginning to recognize this issue and are mandating clients to attend shoplifting and theft prevention classes. Unfortunately, due to the shame associated with compulsive shoplifting and theft, many do not seek treatment to reduce the urge to steal. Due to this, we offer a safe non-judgmental environment for our clients to discuss their shoplifting and theft history and learn about tools that can help avoid poor choices.

Clients who usually take this class have been caught shoplifting at Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Kohl’s, Target Macy’s and other retail stores. You may also be required to take this class if you have been charged with Theft by Receiving, Theft by Deception, Auto Theft, Identity Fraud, Theft by Taking, etc.
